Wellington Community Net Trust is pleased to offer community and not-for-profit groups in the Wellington Region the opportunity to have their websites hosted by us to support their activities.
Your group will benefit by having a website to simplify communicating with your membership and advertising your activities to attract new members. Have a look at the sites we already host under the Community groups hosted on WCN menu at the left of this page.
There is no charge for hosting your website and our volunteers will assist you get started. To make it easy our server has a variety of software installed that can simplify the process of maintaining a professional website.
So if your group is based in the Wellington Region (Kapiti, Porirua, Wellington, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt or the Wairarapa) read our eligibility and hosting policies. If you then wish to have your website hosted by us then complete the online application form now.
Please note that WCN runs on Linux and will not host any websites built using Microsoft-specific technology such as FrontPage or ASP
On 1 July 2010 Wellington Community Net Trust (WCNT) took over responsibility for operating the Wellington Community Net (WCN) web site hosting service.
WCN has a long history of providing free hosting of community group web sites. Generous grants from Wellington City Council allowed WCN to provide this valuable service. While still very supportive of WCN the council is no longer providing a grant to cover the operating costs of WCN. However a new sponsor, The New Zealand School of Business and Government (SBG), have generously agreed to provide sponsorship by hosting the equipment in their premises and looking after it on a day to day basis.
We are pleased to announce that as of 30 June Wellington Community Net (WCN) is now managed by Wellington Community Net Trust and sponsored by New Zealand School of Business and Government.
On 30 June the WCN Trust took over the provision of webhosting services for all Wellington Community Net members. We will continue to deliver the same service as we have been providing. However, terms and conditions are subject to change. We will inform everyone once they have been finalised.

There are about 500 websites hosted on the WCN system, and more at various stages in the installation process. The number of registrations to join the WCN averages 3 to 5 per month.
